LATEST CLUB NEWS HERE ……Barton Shield update

Barton Shield 7th July

What a great victory against Dundalk in the Quarterfinals of the Barton Shield on Sunday. Leading from early on in the game, both Castleknock foursomes (Mark Doogue & Quentin Carew and Ian O’Connell & Paul Coughlan) played some great golf, securing the win by the 15th and 16th holes respectively. The final score of 6 holes showed their dominance and has set the stage for an exciting semi-final clash against County Louth (Baltray).

It will be a tough challenge against Baltray, who earned their spot in the semi by defeating Portmarnock by 3 holes. The semi-final is scheduled to take place at Corrstown Golf Club on the 21st of July.

Castleknock has enjoyed considerable success in the Leinster North section of this competition, having won the title for the past two years. Securing it for a third consecutive year would be an extraordinary achievement and a testament to the team’s consistency and skill.

This year however, the Castleknock lads have their sights set even higher. With their current form and determination, they have a great chance of going all the way and claiming the Barton Shield. Anyway, supporters are very hopeful and are ready to cheer their team on at Corrstown on Sunday week. Come on the Knock

Paul Coughlan wins the Munster Men’s Stroke play championship 2024.

Wow, what an exciting day at Cork Golf Club today! Paul Coughlan’s stellar performance, especially with his putter, propelled him to a spectacular 10-under score over the four rounds to secure the title, but what was really exciting was the two brilliant rounds of golf today, a 67 and a 69 which he played in 8 under for the 36 holes played today. It’s always impressive to see someone come from just off the pace and then dominate the final rounds like that. Brian Doran of Millicent GC claimed second place, while the Carton House duo, Darragh Flynn and Keith Egan, secured third and fourth positions respectively. Quentin Carew who figured high on the leader board after the first two rounds couldn’t maintain his early momentum and finished in 22nd place.

New member Oisin Wiseman had a hole in one on the seventh on Sunday. It was Oisin’s first competitive round in Castleknock and it contributed nicely to his final score of 45 points.

Another hole-in-one for Paul Windsor just a few weeks after getting his first hole in one in late November.
