Depending on the number of entrants, the teams will be made up of 5/6 players and the Best 3/4 scores to count on each team each weekend
- If only 2/3 scores in – Min 20 points will be awarded as 3rd/4th score
- Weeks 1 to 5 – League Section to qualify for Finals – the teams in the top half of the league will qualify for the Finals
- Week 6 = Finals – The Team with weekend’s best scores will be crowned “CHAMPIONS”
- Competition format is Singles Stableford, off current Playing Handicap
- There will be a prize for the Individual with the highest points tally in weeks 1 to 5
NOTE:
- Weeks 1 to 5 are cumulative weekly scores.
- Finals, all teams start at 0 (zero) for that weekend. i.e. No scores carried over from the previous round
- In ALL matters relating to the Golf League, the Competition Secretary’s decision is final.
How to complete a score for the league
- Posting a completed score for the league is confined to cards submitted (manually or electronically) from golf played during weekend club competitions only (Saturday or Sunday)
- The League format is run simultaneously with the weekend club competitions.
- You enter the individual weekend competition as normal, pay the weekend competition entry fee and your score will also be recorded in the League.
- Only completed scores recorded on the golf club’s software system will be accepted, which should reflect your GI Playing handicap. (See below)
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
- In the interest of fairness, Players can only enter one card per weekend.
- The first day of play will count as your score. So, if you normally play in the competition on both days over the weekend, your first day’s play will count as your score
- If you only play one day over the weekend regardless of which day it is, your score will automatically be included.
- If you enter a competition over a weekend and do not return a card or are disqualified from that competition, the NR or disqualified result will not stand as your league result.
League Updates
After each weekend, the scores will be tallied, and the league table will be posted on web.
Weather affecting Play
If bad weather affects the course the following rules will apply.
- If the green keeper declares the course unplayable and the club competition is unable to be played or completed on either Saturday or Sunday scorecards for the league on that weekend cannot be accepted and therefore the league for that weekend will be null and void.
- If the green keeper declares one or more holes out of play on any given day and the committee decide to still have a competition, then the League for that weekend will stand. 2 points per hole will be added to each players score for the out of play holes.
- If we have inclement weather on any given weekend and the course is still open and the competition has not been cancelled scores will count for the league even if some members decide not to finish their round.
- If a weekend is null and void, the League Section will just be reduced. If more than 2 weekends are null and void, the League Positions will be decided by the accumulative total of the round(s) that have been played within the League section.
- If a weekend of the Final is null and void, the competition just moves onto the next weekend and so on until the finals are played and a winner declared.
Registration is open to ALL full (7 day), Student and Junior members of Castleknock Golf Club with GI Handicaps
- To register for the league, there will be a TAB on the computer terminal where you normally enter your completed competition scores.

Paul Coughlan wins the Munster Men’s Stroke play championship 2024.
Wow, what an exciting day at Cork Golf Club today! Paul Coughlan’s stellar performance, especially with his putter, propelled him to a spectacular 10-under score over the four rounds to secure the title, but what was really exciting was the two brilliant rounds of golf today, a 67 and a 69 which he played in 8 under for the 36 holes played today. It’s always impressive to see someone come from just off the pace and then dominate the final rounds like that. Brian Doran of Millicent GC claimed second place, while the Carton House duo, Darragh Flynn and Keith Egan, secured third and fourth positions respectively. Quentin Carew who figured high on the leader board after the first two rounds couldn’t maintain his early momentum and finished in 22nd place.
